Success for the second edition of the Rhum Society!
For two weekends, June 12/13 and 19/20, your Hotel Monte Cristo will turn into a true rum tasting salon. Throughout the year, our Bar 1802 helps you to discover the greatest vintages of this fine nectar and we wanted to host an event that would bring together all enthusiasts and neophytes. That’s what we accomplished with our Rum Society. Let's take a look at our second, and particularly successful, get-together ...
The completely refurbished Hotel Monte Cristo
By organising the Rhum Society, the Monte Cristo team was keen not only to discover and taste rums offered by the most famous houses and lesser-known producers from all over the world, but also and above all to create convivial moments of sharing and exchange around this legendary beverage. To do this, we threw open our private tasting room and 46 of our guestrooms. They were each taken over by a different rum house, thus offering our guests a unique tasting journey. The decor reminiscent of the 19th century passion for exoticism lent itself particularly well to this event.
Discovering the diversity of rum
While the neophytes were able to learn more about the production of rum, the aromas and the tasting techniques, the enthusiasts were able to meet and chat with the representatives of each house. At each stage, three vintages were offered for discovery, enough to do plenty of virtual island-hopping, while facilitating an understanding of the savoir-faire and techniques involved. With our partners Excellence Rhum and Christian de Montaguère we also created a pop-up store where our guests could acquire the rums to which they had been introduced.
Despite the current health constraints, this second edition was a real success with which we were all delighted. Getting you all together and sharing our passion for rum was one of our goals and we can without a doubt say that our aims were almost totally achieved. See you soon for a new edition!
